The simplest way to get more height out of your Tacoma
If you want to get a lift kit, as they're sometimes called, the simplest option is the Westcott Designs preload collar lift kit. The preload collar is designed to fit your vehicle perfectly and it installs in minutes. It's made from durable materials and designed for long-lasting performance.
The simple design of this kit retains your factory ride quality, suspension geometry and allows you to still align it to factory specs after install. All kits include complete hardware for an easy installation using basic hand tools.
Why lift a Tacoma?
If you're a Tacoma owner and are thinking about lifting it, there are a number of reasons to do so. The first reason is off-road performance. A lifted truck will perform better than stock on the trail because it has more clearance for larger tires. You won't bottom out as often when driving over obstacles like rocks or logs. This is especially important if you plan on going through an area with deep mud or snow where such obstacles are common.
Another reason to lift your Tacoma is to improve overall driving performance. When looking at lifted trucks from behind they may look top heavy but a proper lift can improve the cornering and handling of the vehicle. Lifting can also improve acceleration and braking due to less weight on the front axle since most of it has been shifted towards the back tires thanks to their increased size — this makes sense since each tire has four times more contact area than its original counterpart had before being lifted.
What size tires will fit with a 3" lift?
When you're adding a lift to your Tacoma, it's important to think about the tires that are going to be on the truck. Tires are a critical part of any vehicle build because they're the only thing that touches the ground.
You need to get some big tires if you want to do off-roading with your Tacoma. Your options include:
-
31" tall (for increased height)
-
33" tall (for maximum traction)
If you go with 33", you should probably get an extra heavy duty wheel and tire package so that your truck can handle whatever abuse comes its way while driving over rocks and other obstacles in nature trails.

Can I install this myself?
Yes, you can install a lift kit yourself, other than basic hand tools you will only need a spring compressor to complete the job. Be sure to have the alignment checked and set after you are done so you don't prematurely wear out your tires.
A torque wrench is also very important in order to ensure that your bolts are tightened correctly and won't loosen during driving.
To install the Tacoma Lifts, you will need:
-
A floor jack with extension (20 – 24" recommended)
-
A torque wrench (especially one capable of reading in foot-pounds)
-
Automotive spring compressor
It is strongly recommended that you have access to other tools such as wrenches, sockets, ratchets and extensions as well as basic hand tools such as screwdrivers or pliers. Westcott Designs has an extensive library of Youtube instructional videos to help install all of our products.
What is the difference Between a 2WD and 4WD Lift kit?
A 4WD kit is designed to be installed on 4WD trucks. 2WD kits are designed for 2WD trucks.
The main difference between 2WD and 4WD kits is that you need different components to make your truck work in four-wheel drive mode. The other difference is price; 4WD kits are more expensive than their 2WD counterparts because they require more parts and labor which increase the cost of installing these systems in your vehicle.
Westcott Designs is the right choice for you!
If you're looking for a simple, affordable way to achieve more height and better handling in your Tacoma, a lift kit is the best way to achieve that. A Toyota Tacoma lift kit can help you get more ground clearance and improve the look of your truck—all without breaking the bank.
A 3" suspension lift kit from Westcott Designs includes everything that you need to give your truck an aggressive stance. These components are designed specifically so they can be installed by a professional mechanic but most DIY enthusiasts will have no trouble completing this project.
With this kit installed on mid-size trucks like Tacomas, drivers can fit up to 33” tall tires (285/70R17 or 285/75R16) on stock wheels with no rubbing issues when turning at full radius. There is plenty of room left over for off-roading adventures!
