The Classic Westcott Designs 5th Gen 4Runner Ladder & What’s New for Version 2.0?

We love our classic 5th Gen 4Runner Ladder Version 1.0, and so do so many customers. It’s a solid design and still a huge contender on the market for anyone looking for a solid mounting ladder to access your 4Runner roof. This ladder has everything you need and more, so how do you improve on it? Dropping Weight. Even though the ladder is made from Aluminum, it’s still is around 18 lbs. And, we found as the 4Runner aged, the OEM rear hatch struts sometimes struggled to open. There are aftermarket rear hatch strut upgrades (linked here) that we install in our own shop here in AZ that have worked well for us. But, as you know, Jeff Westcott is all about his customers and providing the best products. He’s never satisfied. So, we made some slight design changes for Version 2.0. This new ladder (5th Gen 4Runner Ladder Version 2.0) follows our updated design language you’ll see on our newest ladders for the GX550, LC250 or 6th Gen 4Runner. The new design is clean and a simple evolution from Version 1.0, but most importantly, it drops weight and gives our customers a lighter ladder without compromising on style, strength or function.

Why keep version 1.0?

Because, again, you the customer! We released Version 2.0 and we had calls that people liked the Version 1.0’s design. They didn’t care that it weighed more, they just liked the look. That’s it! You got it! We get it ourselves. For being a company that’s as much about function as it is design, we get it when you fall in love with a style or a look. So here it is. In all it’s glory. The Classic Westcott Designs 5th Gen 4Runner Ladder & What’s New for Version 2.0?

Why keep version 1.0?

Ladder Construction:

Both the 1.0 version and 2.0 ladders are constructed in all aluminum to keep it light weight. The uprights are double layered and the 2.0 Version has been updated from the 1/4″ aluminum to a 3/16″ aluminum – also helping cut down on weight, without compromising on strength. Version 1.0 comes in around 18 lbs. and the new ladder at just over 12 lbs.

Design Change:

You’ll find that we enlarged the cutouts in the side rails and top plate to lose some weight in version 2.0 without compromising rigidity and stability. Version 1.0 matches the same style as our 5th Gen 4Runner roof rack with the cut-outs in the side rails. And, for both ladders, we realized all other ladders on the market just did not have large enough steps, so we took it to the next level. We put in a 1”x 2” step to reassure a solid step ever time. Each step has t-track slots in it to allow for additional attachment points. This ladder is the most solid mounting ladder on the market!

*Note; with the additional weight of our ladder, and depending on both how old your rear factory struts are and the climate you are in, we recommend upgrading your rear hatch struts to a pair of heavy-duty ones. We have had good luck with these ones linked here in addition to other offerings out on the market.*

Return Policy

Refund eligibility for returns is as follows:

Within 30 days of invoice date: Refund and/or store credit on parts only, less any restocking fees
After 30 days of invoice date: No returns or refunds after 30 days

Refunds will be given on parts only and excludes shipping, or any other charges. All parts must be returned in the original package, with all supplied parts, cannot be damaged or installed, and must be in original condition. All returned parts must be sent freight prepaid and fully insured and are subject to a re-boxing fee. We recommend using Fedex/UPS ground services with the insured value at the retail price of what’s being returned. Returned parts that are damaged during transit to us are non-returnable. Certain parts are not returnable, including but not limited to wheels and tires that have been mounted and/or installed, fiberglass parts, special and custom orders, electrical items, and closeouts.

Note that all returns are subject to a 15-25% restocking fee. Please include all original packaging, manuals, and ancillary materials in order to avoid being penalized.

Westcott Designs, Inc. warrants that its products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for so long as the original purchaser owns the product, subject to the exceptions set forth below, PROVIDED THAT SUCH PRODUCTS WERE properly installed in accordance with our installation instructions.

Westcott Designs will repair or replace, in its sole discretion, the product or components found to be defective; provided, however, the maximum amount Westcott Designs may pay under this Limited Warranty shall not exceed the price paid by the purchaser for the defective products. Repairs or replacements will be made with like or similar parts.

POWDER COAT COVERAGE

Our powder coat products and services are warranted from the date of purchase by the original purchaser for 1 year.

OUR LIMITED WARRANTY DOES NOT APPLY TO DAMAGE RESULTING FROM:

Misuse, abuse, accident, neglect, negligence, vandalism, fire, riot, war, road conditions, racing, acts of God or any cause of loss normally covered by insurance;
Improper use, installation, maintenance, or service;
Failure to follow directions on proper use or installation;
Any modification or alteration without prior express written authorization by Westcott Designs;
Repair or attempted repair by unauthorized persons;
Replacement of original components with substitutes without prior express written authorization by Westcott Designs;
Exposure to corrosives, contaminants, chemicals, salt, irradiation or atmospheric or environmental conditions;
Usage or loading in excess of recommended capacities or in non-standard applications; and
Normal wear and tear.

Our Limited Warranty will become null and void if you use your vehicle, at any time, for commercial use.
